Did you know the UK has 50% of the world's Bluebells?
Now is the time that bluebells are looking and smelling their best. Some of us may even be lucky enough to be able to visit a woodland carpeted with these beautiful plants, during our daily exercise quota. Share you photos in our Wild Marlow Facebook Group for everyone to enjoy 💙
There are different varieties of bluebells, English (native), Spanish and hybrids. Here's how you can tell the difference:
English bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta)
-Distinctive 'droop' like the top of a shepherd's crook
-Sweet, cool perfume
-Narrow bell-shaped flowers with rolled back tips
-Creamy white pollen
Spanish bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica) and hybrids
-Upright stems
-No scent
-Conical bell-shaped flowers with open tips
-Blue pollen
