Did you know there is currently a pair of Peregrine Falcons nesting on the spire of All Saint's Church in Marlow? Peregrine falcons usually nest on cliff faces but are becoming more common in towns where they use tall buildings instead.
Peregrine falcons are the fastest animal on earth, reaching speeds of up to 200mph when hunting. Historically they suffered from persecution and pesticide-use which indirectly poisoned them, however there are approx 1,500 breeding pairs now in the UK.
Five years ago a nesting pair were discovered using Country Hall in Aylesbury. These were the first pair known to be nesting in Bucks. As County Hall lacks ledges, a nesting platform was built and installed along with the live nest cameras to follow this wildlife spectacle. Hopefully we can do the same in Marlow?
