30 Wild Marlow Days - Day 18

  • The Red Kite is a very common sight in Marlow now, but did you know it was persecuted to near extinction in the UK. The successful reintroduction program means that they can now be seen in Wales, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and of course the Chilterns.

This magnificent and graceful bird of prey is unmistakable with its red-brown body and forked tail. They mainly eat carrion and worms but are opportunistic and will occasionally take small prey mammals.
