This fella loves the spotlight and is wondering how he can get a cameo in the next @Marlow Murder Club series
Marlow Fire Station Wildflower Restoration Project
Last year one of our supporters saved a load of daffodil bulbs from Cliveden heading for the compost pile. We planted them to enhance the wildflower restoration project at Marlow Fire Station, to bring some essential early spring pollen sources
Whilst not strictly a native variety the bees and other pollinators didn’t seem to mind in the sunshine this week, so neither will we
Great to see the cowslips popping up too
It really is looking pretty diverse now and we can’t wait to see all the blooms this flowering season

Another Swift Box Installation
Another day another swift box installed in the Marlow area
This time with the support from the fabulous team at @Harrow and Hope. What a beautiful spot!
Thanks as always to the guys at Bisham Nest Box Group for making the box and installing. This one also has a caller to ensure the swifts know of the new potential nesting site, when they come home in May from their long journey from Africa.
To find out more about these amazing birds and if you can help them with providing a suitable nesting opportunity, please look at our website project page

Rare Eagle Sighting in Little Marlow
A short phone video clip of the incredible juvenile white tailed eagle visiting Spade Oak Lake Nature Reserve yesterday (4th March 2025) – what a rare and exciting sighting
Originally from the Isle of Skye, released as part of the Roy Dennis Foundation Reintroduction Project on the Isle of Wight
Annual General Meeting
At our AGM we heard all about the great work that’s been going on in 2024 as well as what we have planned for 2025. The highlight was definitely watching this short video, created by one of our Trustees, showcasing the otter antics we have captured on our monitoring trail cameras, from the Water Vole Recovery project.
Standing Up For Nature
On 31st Jan, Verity from Wild Marlow popped in to Marlow FM to chat about the recent Bucks Council decisions regarding Spade Oak Lake Nature Reserve in the Little Marlow Lakes Country Park.
There are great concerns regarding the ecological impact the recent proposed SANG provision will have, to meet a planning condition for a housing development in Bourne End.
We wholeheartedly support the delivery of the Country Park, in accordance with our adopted local plan, which will support suitable recreational resources for people and valuable habitats for wildlife
These two are not exclusive! So many of us already enjoy this area because of nature. You can see our response here WM Spade Oak SANG Call-In -Jan 25
You can listen to the short interview here https://www.marlowfm.co.uk/listen-again/
Good Morning Marlow, 31st Jan at 10.00am from around 8 mins in.

Standing Up For Nature
On Wednesday, two Wild Marlow trustees attended the Marlow Film Studio appeal hearing, to participate in the ecology roundtable discussion.
We were very pleased to be given the opportunity to raise our concerns, ask questions, request clarification and suggest more robust mitigation and monitoring measures are implemented through legally binding conditions, should this development be given the go ahead.
The Planning Inspector was very supportive in helping us navigate the unfamiliar process, listening to us throughout and ensuring our queries and concerns were heard and clarified where possible. After an extensive visit to the appeal site and listening to all the wonderful wildlife that thrives in that area, we hope she has a true picture of the value, rather than the downplayed description from the developer.
Whilst our strong objection to the inappropriate development remains, it was important for us to be able to share our real-life experience and knowledge of the habitats and wildlife under threat. You can read our objections and the Statement we commissioned, stating the most important ecological concerns we have raised.

RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch
Feeders topped up, kettle on, all ready for the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch
One of our favourite citizen science activities, as anyone can take part. Who else is taking part this weekend?
All counts provide important data, even low numbers and more common species

A Festive Catch-Up
Trying to get all the Wild Marlow steering group volunteers in one place at one time, is like trying to herd squirrels
However some of us managed a festive catch-up yesterday – not a muddy boot in sight
