The Little Marlow Parish Council wildflower pollinator patches received their late summer trim last weekend 🌱 ![]()

Cutting and clearing the growth, is essential to ensure excess nutrient doesn’t go back into the soil, inhibiting growth for next season🌱 ![]()

These patches are in their early stages of establishing, but we can already see the improvement in species diversity 🌱 ![]()

It will be interesting to see how the drought this year, has impacted the native species, when new growth starts after winter 🌱 ![]()

Was also lovely to see the local little ones from Little Marlow Pre-School, enjoying and engaging with these patches, helping the bugs with dead wood shelters 💚

We had a lovely display of nectar rich native flowers in spring, supporting our pollinators 🐝, However it really came into its own during the long hot summer, creating sheltering opportunities as well as nectar and seeds, supporting a wide range of invertebrates and birds during the drought conditions 🐞![]()

It’s wonderful watching this small patch thrive and support our valuable local wildlife 💚
